Marina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Kansas. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Services through Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Friends University as part of the Delta Kappa Honor Society, the international marriage and family therapy honor society. Marina has additional certifications in Prepare-Enrich for premarital counseling and marriage enrichment, as well as Couple's Communication. She is trilingual, speaking English, Portuguese, and Spanish and is highly competent multiculturally.
Marina is highly skilled in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals, couples, and families struggling with communication issues, marital distress, infidelity, sexual intimacy, self-esteem, family conflict, parenting issues, grief, trauma, issues in spirituality, and many more. In addition to offering therapy for private practice, Marina also has experience doing crisis work at a community mental health center, as well as Christian counseling at faith-based organizations.
Marina’s aspiration to be a Marriage and Family Therapist is rooted in her spiritual background as she felt called to this profession. She has a passion for people and places high value on marriage and family life. Marina considers it an honor when she is welcomed into people's lives during their most vulnerable times, because she truly believes that these moments are when people reach their greatest potential for change and growth. Marina’s therapeutic focus is on strengthening individual, couple, and family relationships and promoting healthy home environments that nurture each person's needs, desires, and longings. Marina encourages each person to actively participate in session so that each relationship within the couple and family structure can develop in a meaningful way, including the relationship with the self.
